The parable of the Good Samaritan may be one of the most familiar stories Jesus ever told.
Often we reduce this parable down to, “Be kind to people.” Of course, that is not wrong. But Jesus is doing something deeper than telling us to be nice. He is confronting a religious man who knows the right answer but is still looking for a way around costly obedience.
