DAY 13 | I Am Poor and Needy
Scripture: Psalm 86:1-7
Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;
answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I'm in trouble,
and you will answer me.

Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;

I will call to you whenever I'm in trouble,
and you will answer me.
Framing:
David opens this psalm by deliberately positioning himself as poor and needy before God. This is not despair — it's strategy. He has learned that God responds to the lowly. Desperation, for David, is not a failure of faith. It's a posture of faith.
Pray:
Pray with this posture today: 'I am poor and needy before You.'
Ask God for the specific thing you are desperate for — and bring it
not with confidence in yourself, but with confidence in His unfailing love.
Ask God for the specific thing you are desperate for — and bring it
not with confidence in yourself, but with confidence in His unfailing love.
